QR
code is a trademark matrix barcode type that was first designed for the Japan
automotive industry. A barcode contains information that is a machine-readable
label. For efficient data storage, four standardized encoding modes are used,
of which extensions may also be used.
The letters Q and R stand for quick response. The main purpose of the code development was to create a code that could be read quickly. QR code is the official name and should never be interpreted as an acronym for "Quick Response" Code.

downside of having a QR is if someone does not have a way that they can access
it. A QR Code is considered an input device
Recently,
consumers were able to have a QR reader on their smart phones, with this new
feature, business have begun issuing name cards & electronic tickets.
Airlines have incorporated the QR code in their flight ticket issuing system.
You can now check in to Hotel’s, conferences and events, as well as many other
places with just your smart phone & the QR code pulled up on your screen. Some
businesses are even using the QR code to give a special discount code or to
enter a drawing.
