QR Code:

My Personal QR Code:

History:

QR code is a trademark matrix barcode type that was first designed for the Japan automotive industry. A barcode contains information that is a machine-readable label. For efficient data storage, four standardized encoding modes are used, of which extensions may also be used.

The letters Q and R stand for quick response. The main purpose of the code development was to create a code that could be read quickly. QR code is the official name and should never be interpreted as an acronym for "Quick Response" Code.

The downside of having a QR is if someone does not have a way that they can access it. A QR Code is considered an input device

The QR code was initially designed for the auto industry in Japan, and it greatly contributed to making their management more efficient from production to shipping.  Companies begin to use the QR code to respond to an emerging trend were people demanded that their production processes become transparent to help make products traceable while other companies used the code to control their merchandise.

Recently, consumers were able to have a QR reader on their smart phones, with this new feature, business have begun issuing name cards & electronic tickets. Airlines have incorporated the QR code in their flight ticket issuing system. You can now check in to Hotel’s, conferences and events, as well as many other places with just your smart phone & the QR code pulled up on your screen. Some businesses are even using the QR code to give a special discount code or to enter a drawing.
